Air Jordan to Release Denim Sneakers for Women and Kids

 

Jeans fits may have evolved over the past few years, but the denim sneaker stands as one of fashion’s unwavering trends. Interest in the niche product is carrying over into 2022 with new Air Jordan 1 High styles for kids and women.

Modernizing the ’80s denim aesthetic, the kids’ style offers a pop of color that denim heads will appreciate, with dark powder blue accents, laces and outsoles. The upper and toe box feature washed denim with a tie-dye effect that offers the wearer a unique design, as no two shoes will be exactly the same.

Exact pricing is not yet available, as the shoe has yet to hit retailers, but will hover around $220. A spokesperson for the brand said the style will soon be available on Presentedby.Com and Klekt.Com. Air Jordan 1 Mid sneakers typically retail for around $115, though special editions and collaborations increase the price.

The women’s sneaker features washed denim on the tips, heels and vamp. White leather accents are seen on the toe box and at the base of the upper, and the sneaker includes a special gold Deubré, or shoelace tag, at the base of the laces. More details are on the way, as the shoe isn’t expected to drop until June.

A flashy denim style may provide a needed boost for the sneaker category, which experts said would stagnate over the holidays despite—or as a result of—a slew of limited-edition styles and collaborations.

Denim sneakers often bring together leaders in both the denim and footwear categories to experiment with innovative designs. In the past, brands like Levi’s, 3×1 and Louis Vuitton have partnered with sneaker stalwarts including New Balance, Nike and Converse to offer different iterations of a denim shoe. In 2020, Levi’s and New Balance debuted a sneaker featuring limited-edition White Oak XX52 denim from Levi’s deadstock inventory from the now-shuttered White Oak Mills in Greensboro, N.C.

The denim Air Jordan 1 Mid will be offered in pre-school sizing, with full family sizing possible at launch.
