Godzilla: will Toho studio continue this series?
Godzilla has spent decades developing its way through films from Japan and North America, with Legendary Pictures recently announcing that it is creating a new TV series with Apple TV+ to bring MonsterVerse return. Now, it looks like Toho Studios is looking to re-enter the kaiju game as new reports surface that the film producers are set to begin filming a new kaiju project that is set to take place over a very long period of time. unique.
As reported by Kaiju News Outlet, Toho Studios is apparently looking for extras for an upcoming kaiju project that will take place in the 1940s and is scheduled to begin filming next month with director Takashi Yamazaki taking the lead. The King of Monsters retained his crown in Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, defeating Kong in a one-on-one battle in the latest crossover movie, Godzilla Vs. Kong. While the returning kaiju for the upcoming Apple TV+ series has yet to reveal which giant beasts will return, we certainly wouldn't be surprised if both Godzilla and Kong return to the spotlight.
It's been a few years since we last saw Godzilla of the East, with Shin Godzilla introducing a very different version of the lizard king, created under the expertise of Hideaki Anno, creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion. With the latest Japanese movie featuring the most fearsome-looking lizard king to date, there's no news yet on whether this new classic kaiju movie will return in the future. However, Anno herself is busy and expanding the "Shin Universe" with the upcoming take on two other classic characters from Japan in Shin Kamen Rider and Shin Ultraman.
