Report: Double fracture for Juventus midfielder McKennie

It has been reported that Weston McKennie has been diagnosed with a double fracture in his left foot following the 1-1 Champions League draw with Juventus.

Coach Max Allegri confirmed the U.S. player was taken to a local hospital for an X-ray shortly after the game at La Ceramica.

According to Sky Sport Italia, McKennie has been diagnosed with a second and third ankle fracture in his left foot.

This means the 23-year-old has to take a very long break and it is quite possible that his season is over.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the waiting period will last at least two months.

He made 28 appearances for the club this season between Serie A, the Champions League, coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup.

McKennie scored four goals.

It is a blow to the Bianconeri, who have been without Paulo Dybala, Federico Chiesa, Daniele Rugani, Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Bernardeschi for this Champions League trip.

The missed time will be a blow to both the Serie A team and the USMNT. The team will then attend the final three matches of next month's World Cup qualifiers with second place in the CONCACAF rankings. McKennie has five goals in 25 appearances, including 13 friendlies, in six seasons with the national team.

On Sunday, fellow USMNT player Giovanni Reyna suffered a thigh injury during Borussia Dortmund's match against Gladbach which is not believed to be serious.
