Uncharted’s Fortnite Skins are Impressive, But Also Way Too Smooth

Uncharted hits theaters this week, after several delays and around a decade of development. Since this is of course a huge blockbuster and is based on a fairly popular franchise, it means it’s time for a Fortnite mash-up. Who’s ready for some character skins?

The battle royale cartoon is bringing Nathan Drake to the helm of the series and (sort of?) Chloe Frazier to co-lead its ever-expanding roster. If you want to hit the battlefield as Tom Holland or Sophia Ali’s respective movie versions of Drake and Chloe, you can. But there are also character skins for game versions of the characters, despite the inability to hear Nolan North’s hilarious voice say “oh, CRAP!” when he dodges gunfire or Claudia Black shoots a witty pad. Best of all, no matter what character skin you buy, you’ll get the remaining reward and can swap it in any Locker. Surprisingly, though, there’s no love for Drake’s BFF Sully, like Mark Wahlberg in the movie or the game’s version, voiced by Richard McGonagle.
Fortnite‘s crossover has been pretty good at bringing characters from other universes to life, but admittedly, Uncharted’s character interface feels a bit different. Maybe it’s the smoothness; Naughty Dog’s output in the last two generations of consoles have all focused on humans, who have gone to great lengths to make them look like real people. Seeing their features smoothed in this new art style, you can’t help but feel strange in comparison.

Along with the skins, the Uncharted crossover features in-game items including an updated Diary Emoji, a seaplane glider, different picks, and Drake’s Map. The following part will take you on a scavenger hunt to find loot that PlayStation treasure hunters left somewhere on the island for you to add to your inventory.
Dedicated Fortnite players found clues to the crossover earlier in the week, and much quicker than Epic Games expected, as the trailer wasn’t widely available when players figured out the password. Web’s. (It’s ‘sicparvismagna,’ which any Uncharted player can figure out without much effort.)

Uncharted skins will hit the Fortnite storefront on February 17, just hours before the movie hits theaters. Find our review of the movie on Tuesday.
